Welcome! I’m Rebecca Fischer-Smith, a writer who calls the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California home. When I’m not writing, I’m usually off pretending I’m some kind of cowgirl at my family’s cattle ranch. Or trying to reintroduce a lifelong passion of mine back into my life: drawing. I’m happily married with two kids.

I have a Bachelor’s in Creative Writing, with a focus in nonfiction. While I do have some fiction projects in the works, the bulk of my work is nonfiction. I have worked in a variety of industries over the years, taking my pen with me. I’ve written for topics like agriculture, rural living, home improvement, backyard recreation (pools and hot tubs specifically), and even a little health and wellness.

I have nearly four years experience working in content marketing, writing blogs, social media, email campaigns, and more.

Before marketing, I also worked at a local newspaper as a community writer, where I wrote news articles and a column called Mother Lode Millennial.

Prior to that, I worked at my local Farm Bureau branch, the Calaveras County Farm Bureau, where I managed their website and social media, as well as wrote their quarterly newsletter.

Somewhere between all those jobs, I managed to squeeze in a remote internship with a small book publisher, where I did editorial work, book interior layout design, and illustrated one children’s book.

Not sure what else you need to know about me. I want to own a Haflinger someday. And maybe some Angora goats. And chickens. Cows will have to do for now.
